Migration

Since 2002 the volume and the composition of immigration in Switzerland have changed. Observations show that foreign nationals immigrating to Switzerland come mainly from EU/EFTA states. Citizens of countries that are not EU/EFTA states are subject to the Foreign Nationals Act and are only admitted if they fulfil certain requirements.  The number of people immigrating from non-EU/EFTA states has, therefore, slowed down.

Integration

Since 2012 the FSO produces integration indicators, focusing on the conditions of target groups living in our society, as well as the outcome of political measures or other steps aimed at integration. The indicators cover numerous areas of life in our society.

Diversity and coexistence in Switzerland

The Survey on diversity and coexistence in Switzerland (VeS) aims to present an accurate picture of the issues raised by the coexistence of different groups currently living in Switzerland. The survey also allows monitoring of trends in society in several areas such as racism, xenophobia or discrimination.
