Demographic portrait of Switzerland

Between 2020 and 2021, the population of Switzerland increased by 0.8% to 8 738 791 people on 31 December 2021. During the same period, the number of persons aged 65 and over increased by 1.9%, from 1 629 670 in 2020 to 1 661 319 in 2021.
