Inflation rates

The CPI measures the change in prices of goods and services which are representative of the private households'consumption in Switzerland. It indicates how much consumers have to increase or to decrease their expenditure to maintain the same volume of consumption, despite the variations in prices.

Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) is an indicator that the member states of EU and EFTA calculate based on a harmonized method and that allows comparing inflation internationally. The Swiss HICP is an indicator for comparing inflation in Switzerland with that of its European neighbours.
