Changes to the Ordinance on statistical surveys

During its session of 31 January 2018, The Federal Council agreed to a revision of the Ordinance on statistical surveys and its entry into force on 1 March 2018. This year's revision consists mainly of changes to the wording. In addition, the statistical mandate from the Medical Professions Act is now incorporated in the ordinance.

The implementing ordinance of the Federal Statistics Act governs the conduct of statistical surveys and the processing of data for the purposes of statistical production. An annex to the ordinance stipulates the list of authorities responsible for these surveys and defines the conditions in which they should be conducted. It was designed in such a way that revisions could be made quickly and easily. Surveys must be updated regularly so that implementation of the multi-annual programme for federal statistics always relies on current legal bases. The Federal Council adopts this programme for the start of each legislative period.
