By virtue of the principle of social justice and equality of opportunity, gender equality is a key component of the 2030 Agenda. According to the Agenda, equality between men and women must be ensured in all areas of life. For this reason, the topic is dealt with not only in Goal 5 of the 2030 Agenda “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”, which is entirely devoted to it, but also in many other of the Agenda’s goals and targets.
The MONET 2030 system deals with gender equality through a range of indicators spread across several SDGs. Some of them (seven) are indicators devoted entirely to this subject. The remaining 16 indicators are primarily concerned with other targets. They do, however, contain a supplementary graph broken down by gender in order to illustrate inequalities or differences in male and female behaviour across the 2030 Agenda.
