Like the AHV and health insurance, the Swiss disability insurance (IV) is a nationwide, compulsory insurance. Its aim is to ensure that the basic living costs of insured persons are covered in the event of disability by means of rehabilitation measures or cash benefits.
Financing
The IV is financed by social insurance contributions and public funding, specially from the federal government.
