Ordinance on the Federal Buildings and Dwellings Register to be revised

At its sitting of 9 June 2017, the Federal Council approved the complete revision of the Ordinance on the Federal Buildings and Dwellings Register (ORegBL). The revision will satisfy the requirements of the new legislation on second homes (SHA) and improve the organisation and use of the register. This revision, which will take effect as of 1st July 2017, will enable swisstopo to create two new official directories from 2020, one for streets and another for building addresses.

The revision will allow the Confederation access to a reliable and current reference information system for buildings and dwellings in Switzerland, facilitate updates to its content as well as the availability of data to beneficiaries. Procedures for maintaining registers with the cantons are set out and consistency and harmonisation with data from the official cadastral survey guaranteed.
