The producer price index (PPI) measures the price change of goods and services which are produced or performed by businesses operating within Switzerland and are sold in Switzerland or abroad. It covers the following areas: agriculture and forestry; mining and quarrying; processing industry, manufacturing; energy supply (electricity and gas); recycling (three product groups).
The products covered by the producer price index enter – either directly or via intermediary trade – other product sectors as intermediate consumption or consumption and investments as end products.
