Road vehicles - New registrations


Overview

In 2023, 356 538 motor vehicles were newly registered in Switzerland: 10.6% more than in 2022, but 12.9% less than in 2019, the last pre-covid year.

Passenger cars accounted for almost three quarters of new registrations. A total of 255 981 cars were newly put into circulation on Swiss roads in 2023: 11.6% more than in 2022, but 18.1% fewer than in 2019. Once again there was an increase in electric cars: in 2023, 20.7% of newly registered passenger cars were purely electric, 3.0 percentage points more than in 2022 (17.7%).
