Hospital Statistics 2022 Consolidation of hospital activities in 2022

20.11.2023 - In 2022, there were 1.49 million admissions to Swiss hospitals. The upward trend already seen in 2021 was thus confirmed, with the pre-pandemic level of hospital admissions (1.47 million) exceeded. The 24.38 million outpatient consultations in 2022 confirmed the trend seen in 2021. In 2022, the total operating costs of hospitals exceeded CHF 33.9 billion (one billion more than in the previous year). These are some of the results from the hospital data published today by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
