Conditions of use

Information on the Federal Statistical Office's (FSO) website is accessible to the public. Downloading or copying texts, illustrations, images or any other data does not entail any transfer of rights on the content. Copyright and any other rights relating to texts, illustrations, photos or any other data available on the FSO website are the exclusive property of the FSO or of any other expressly mentioned owners.

Downloaded geodata and information can (except for commercial purposes) be used with mention of the Federal Statistical Office as source (FSO; GEOSTAT), and mention of the specific survey or data set as given in the data description. Furthermore the date on which the copy or reproduction was made must be clearly visible.

Commercial use

To use the information in unaltered form for commercial purposes, prior written permission must be obtained from the Federal Statistical Office, Espace de l'Europe 10, 2010 Neuchâtel. The use of geodata is only considered to be commercial if they are made available in unaltered form, for money or free of charge to a third party (data transfer) or they constitute a significant proportion of an end product that is made available to a limited group of people, with payment.

Permission is only legally valid if it is given in writing by the Federal Statistical Office beforehand; any fees dues are also dealt with in this written permission.

Internal use

In-house use of federal statistics' geodata for one's own business activities, to provide services and fulfil tasks for third parties, for visualisation purposes on paper or online does not count as commercial use, provided that no direct transfer of geodata takes place in electronic form. Under observation of these terms and conditions, geodata may also be transferred to sub-contractors, partners and other organisational units within the same corporation or legal entity so that the data user can accomplish their work.
