Almost every sixth person lived in a household with arrears in 2020

Neuchâtel, 16.11.2017 (FSO) - In 2016, around one in five people in Switzerland were unable to meet an unexpected expense of CHF 2500. One person out of ten cannot afford one week's holiday per year away from home. 6.9% of the population were affected by a persistent risk of poverty. Nevertheless, the overall standard of living in Switzerland is one of the highest in Europe. These results come from the Federal Statistical Office's Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC).
