Overnight stays in the Swiss hotel sector reach new record in 2023/2024 winter season

05.12.2023 - The Swiss hotel sector recorded 23.9 million overnight stays during the summer tourist season (from May to October 2023), the highest level ever observed. Compared with the same period last year, overnight stays increased by 6.3% (+1.4 million overnight stays). With a total of 12.4 million overnight stays, foreign demand rose by 17.2% (+1.8 million). Domestic visitors registered a decrease of 3.4% (−402 000) with 11.5 million units. These are the provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
