Swiss services sector recorded a decline of 8.0% in March 2024

01.09.2023 - Services turnover adjusted for working day effects fell by 11.0% in June 2023 compared with the same month last year, with this result largely due to wholesale dynamics. These are provisional findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

The economic sector "Wholesale and retail trade", recorded a decline in turnover of 17.5% in June compared to the same month of the previous year and the economic sector "Transportation and storage" also reduced its turnover (-3.2%). In the economic sector "Accommodation and food service activities" (+8.7%), the figures went up in June 2023 compared to June 2022 and the "Information and communication" division also reported a positive result (+6.8%). The economic sector "Real estate activities" showed increasing turnover figures (+3.5%), while the sector "Professional, scientific and technical activities" achieved an increase in turnover of 0.5%. Finally, the turnover of the economic section "Administrative and support service activities" grew (+1.4%). The "Travel agency, tour operator reservation service and related activities" sector (+1.6%) grew only slightly in June 2023 after strong increases in the preceding months.
