Cultural economy, public funding of culture and special analysis on Covid-19 aid
The cultural sector shrank in 2020, the first year of the pandemic: there was a decrease of 1.3% in the number of cultural enterprises, 3.0% in the number of jobs and 5.9% in gross value added. Non-repayable COVID-19 support measures of around CHF 1.1 billion helped to somewhat cushion the negative economic impact. These are the new results from the statistics on the cultural economy and the public funding of culture published by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
