Health care costs and financing in 2009 61 billion on health

Neuchâtel, 26.04.2011 (FSO) - Total health care expenditure in 2009 amounted to CHF 61 billion, 4.3% more than in the previous year. As the gross domestic product fell by 1.6% in 2009 compared with the previous year, the percentage share of health expenditure with respect to the gross domestic product rose from 10.7% to 11.4%. These are the findings of the Federal Statistical Office's (FSO) latest provisional figures on the costs and financing of the health care system.
