Household internet use in 2023 Widespread use of the internet is making the Swiss population more vulnerable to fake news and hate speech

07.12.2023 - In 2023, more than 9 out of 10 people used the internet every day. As the internet becomes omnipresent in our lives, users are at greater risk from fake news or hate speech. In Switzerland, over half a million people say they lack the skills to check for false or dubious content. 60% of young people aged 15 to 29 say they have been confronted with online hate speech in the last three months. These are the results from the latest Federal Statistical Office (FSO) survey on internet access and usage in households.
