Cancer in Switzerland from 1983 to 2007 Four out of ten people diagnosed with cancer

Neuchâtel, 07.02.2011 (FSO) - With 30% among men and 23% among women, cancer is the second leading cause of death. Every year, 35,000 cases of cancer and 16,000 cancer deaths are registered. Among women, lung cancer has increased most markedly. These are results of the cancer report published by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), the National Institute for Cancer Epidemiology and Registration (NICER) and the Swiss Childhood Cancer Registry (SCCR).
