Financial statistics of means-tested social benefits 2011 Per capita expenditure of CHF 1544

Neuchâtel, 27.06.2013 (FSO) - According to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), in 2011 expenditure on means-tested social benefits rose by 5.9% in nominal terms to CHF 12.3 billion. The previous year's increase was 8.1%. Approximately 70% of spending went to health insurance premium reductions and supplementary benefits relating to the old-age and survivors'/invalidity insurance (AHV/IV). Social assistance expenditure also continued to increase.
