Empty dwellings survey 2023 Renewed decline in the dwelling vacancy rate in 2023

11.09.2023 - On 1 June 2023, there were 54 765 vacant dwellings in Switzerland. This was 1.15% of the total housing stock (including single-family houses). This means that the dwelling vacancy rate fell by 0.16 percentage points year-on-year. This is the third decline in vacancies in a row. There were 6731 fewer empty dwellings compared with the previous year, representing a decrease of 10.9%. These are some of the findings of the empty dwellings survey from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
