Criminal convictions of minors and enforcement of juvenile sanctions in 2021
Overall, 20 092 convictions of minors were passed in 2021, representing an increase of 7.5% compared with 2020. Convictions under the Criminal Code and the Road Traffic Act rose by 6.4% and 15.4% respectively. In contrast, convictions under the Narcotics Act fell by 23%. The most frequent sanctions were cautions, personal work orders and fines. In 2021, 1038 young people were placed in foster care.
