Neuchâtel, 26.06.2014 (FSO) - According to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), in 2012 expenditure on means-tested social benefits rose by 3.6% in nominal terms to CHF 12.7 billion. The previous year's increase was 5.8%. Approximately two thirds of spending went to health insurance premium reductions and supplementary benefits relating to the old-age and survivors/invalidity insurance (AHV/IV). Social assistance expenditure increased more considerably.
