Swiss hotel sector generated a record 41 million overnight stays in 2023

Neuchâtel, 24.04.2009 (FSO) - According to the 2008 annual results of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), Switzerland's 57 youth hostels generated 978,000 overnight stays, i.e. a rise of 7.3% compared with 2007. The 274 camping sites considered in this statistic registered 3 million overnight stays, representing an increase of 7.8% compared with 2007. Generating 55% of overnight stays in youth hostels and 52% in camping sites, Swiss demand accounted for more than half of overnight stays.
