House-building activity in 1st quarter 2013 20% increase in number of dwellings with planning permission

Neuchâtel, 08.07.2013 (FSO) - According to the latest results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), 7740 new dwellings were built in Switzerland in the 1st quarter 2013. This represents a 0.5% decrease in the number of new dwellings compared with the same quarter a year earlier. At the end of March 2013, some 76,770 dwellings were under construction, which corresponds to a 3% increase year-on-year. The number of buildings with planning permission increased by 20% compared with the same quarter a year earlier, to 13,330 units.
