Secondary sector production in Switzerland declined by 0.6% in 4th quarter 2023
20.05.2022 - Secondary sector production rose by 6.9% in 1st quarter 2022 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover rose by 9.9%. This is shown by provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
In comparison with the previous year, industrial production grew in January by 5.1%, in February by 15.4%, and in March by 4.2%. For the whole of 1st quarter 2022 production increased by 7.9% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier.
Construction production declined by 0.5% in 1st quarter 2022 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Production rose by 0.2% in building, civil engineering in contrast registered a decline (–3.8%). Lastly, specialised construction activities registered a decline of 0.5% in their production.
Turnover
Industrial turnover in January rose by 8.7% in comparison with the previous year, and in February (+17.2%) and in March (+8.5%). For the whole of 1st quarter 2022 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier, turnover registered an increase of 11.1%.
Construction turnover rose by 3.3% in 1st quarter 2022 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover rose by 5.3% in building, Civil engineering registered a decline of 1.9%, specialised construction activities an increase of 2.5%.
