Neuchâtel, 17.11.2009 (FSO) - The median gross wage in Switzerland rose to CHF 5823 in 2008. The wage gap increased among high-skilled jobs, while it remained stable among low-skilled jobs. There was a sharp increase in the remuneration of top managers, particularly in the financial sector. The proportion of low-wage jobs has steadily declined since 2000. These are the initial findings of the Swiss Earnings Structure Survey 2008 conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
