Omnibus Survey 2023: Environmental quality and behaviour Changes in the climate perceived by nine out of ten people in Switzerland

1.2.2024 - In 2023, 41% of the population said that they had noticed severe changes in the climate in Switzerland, 48% slight changes and 11% no changes. While 86% rate the quality of the environment in Switzerland as very good or quite good, traffic noise and air pollution are increasingly perceived as a nuisance. The loss of biodiversity, climate change and water scarcity are seen to pose the greatest dangers to humans and the environment, while nuclear power stations in particular have become less important in this respect. These are the first results from a survey on the environment, conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) for the fourth time.

You will find further information such as graphs in the press releases in German, French and Italian. The English version only includes the lead of the press release.
