The arrival of international students in Swiss higher education institutions

Thanks to the reputation of its education system, each year Switzerland welcomes an ever-growing number of international students into its higher education institutions. In 2020, despite the crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on global mobility, the number of new international students continued to rise (+4% compared with 2019). For 2021, initial estimates show trends similar to those of 2020.
