Secondary Sector Production, Orders and Turnover Statistics lncrease in production in Switzerland in 3rd quarter 2017
Secondary sector production in Switzerland declined by 0.6% in 4th quarter 2023
Neuchâtel, 24.11.2017 (FSO) - Secondary sector production rose by 7.4% in 3rd quarter 2017 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover rose by 6.2%. This is the greatest increase since the 1st quarter 2008.
In comparison with the previous year industrial production grew in July by 7.3%, in August by 6.5%, and in September by 13.0%. For the whole of 3rd quarter 2017 production increased by 8.6% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier.
Construction production increased by 0.5% in 3rd quarter 2017 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Production rose by 0.8% in building, civil engineering in contrast registered a decline (-7.6%). Lastly, specialised construction activities registered an increase of 3.3% in their production.
Turnover
Industrial turnover in July rose by 6.8% in comparison with the previous year, and in August (+5.8%) and in September (+10.8%). For the whole of 3rd quarter 2017 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier, turnover registered an increase of 7.5%.
Construction turnover fell by 0.1% in 3rd quarter 2017 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover rose by 1.3% in building, Civil engineering registered a decline of 7.6%, specialised construction activities an increase of 1.9%.
