Nursing home and home care services in 2016 Almost half a million people (+6.6%) benefit from nursing home and home care assistance

By 2022, almost half of all nursing homes were privately owned

Neuchâtel, 23.11.2017 (FSO) - In 2016, almost 340,000 persons benefited from home care services, a 10% increase compared with 2015. For the first time, the 1570 nursing homes registered a decrease in their number of residents with around 149,000 persons (-0.4%). In order to provide this care, home care services and nursing homes employed 177,184 members of staff. These are some of the findings from the Statistics on Home Care Services and the Statistics on Nursing Homes from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
