Vital Statistics 2023: final results Decline in births, deaths, marriages and divorces in 2023

20.06.2024 - 2023 was characterised by a downturn in live births and deaths. The average number of children per woman was the lowest ever recorded (1.33). Life expectancy increased to a level higher than that observed before the pandemic. The number of marriages and divorces also fell between 2022 and 2023. These are some of the final annual results of the Vital Statistics for 2023 from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
