Tourism balance of payments 2014 Receipts less dynamic than expenditure

Neuchâtel, 26.06.2015 (FSO) - Foreign visitors spent CHF 16.0 billion in Switzerland in 2014, 2.7% more than in 2013. Spending by Swiss visitors abroad also increased (+4.7%), reaching a record CHF 15.7 billion. Both of these developments resulted in a decrease in the tourism balance of payments which declined by CHF 287 million compared with 2013, according to initial estimates by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). However, the balance remains positive for 2014 at CHF 295 million.
