Tourism: Expenditure in Switzerland and abroad recovered significantly in 2022
Neuchâtel, 21.06.2013 (FSO) - According to preliminary estimates from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), foreign visitors spent CHF 15 billion in Switzerland in 2012, i.e. CHF 202 million
(-1.3%) less than in 2011. Expenditure by Swiss travellers abroad reached new heights, at CHF 12.9 billion (+6,7%). These two factors cause the tourism balance of payments to shrink by a billion francs. A fall in the balance was also observed in 2011 (-655 million). However, the balance still shows a comfortable surplus of approximately CHF 2 billion.
