In-depth analysis of the survey on diversity and coexistence in Switzerland 2016- 2020 Switzerland's population is generally open to diversity, with individual and regional differences

28.10.2021 - Over the 2016-2020 period, Switzerland’s population was generally open to diversity. A small part of the population stated that they felt uncomfortable about the presence of people perceived to be different and most rejected racist attitudes. An open attitude is comparatively less likely among people politically oriented to the right, as well as among those with no migration background or those living in sparsely populated zones. These are some of the findings from the in-depth analysis of the survey on diversity and coexistence in Switzerland (VeS) conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) in 2016, 2018 and 2020.
