Producer and Import Price Index rose by 0.1% in February

14.10.2021 - The Producer and Import Price Index rose in September 2021 by 0.2% compared with the previous month, reaching 104.1 points (December 2020 = 100). In particular, basic metals and semi-finished metal products as well as petroleum and natural gas saw higher prices. Compared with September 2020, the price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products rose by 4.5%. These are the results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

In particular, higher prices for basic metals and semi-finished metal products were responsible for the increase in the producer price index compared with the previous month. Processed tea and coffee also became more expensive. In contrast, falling prices were seen for scrap.

The import price index registered higher prices compared with August 2021, particularly for petroleum and natural gas as well as basic metals and semi-finished metal products. The same applied to motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Computers, in contrast, became cheaper.
