State of health of elderly people in institutions 2008/09 Almost two out of five residents affected by dementia
Neuchâtel, 07.06.2010 (FSO) - More than three quarters of elderly people in nursing homes have had a health problem for more than six months and 67% have great difficulty performing daily tasks such as eating, getting dressed or going to the toilet. A quarter of residents suffer from a sensory disability. These are the results of a new Federal Statistical Office (FSO) survey on the state of health and living conditions of elderly people living in an institution.
