Road vehicles in 2016 Further increase in vehicle stock in 2016

Number of new vehicle registrations in 2022 almost 8% lower than previous year

Neuchâtel, 02.02.2017 (FSO) - Just under 415,000 road motor vehicles were newly registered in 2016, a decline of almost 3% in comparison with the previous year. The total vehicle stock, however, increased by around 94,900 vehicles compared with 2015 (+1.6%), to just below the 6 million mark. Almost three-quarters of the stock are passenger cars. These are some of the latest results of the road vehicle statistics published by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
