Underemployment

A majority of the 5% underemployed persons, i.e. employed persons working part-time who would like to work more and would be able to do so within a short lapse of time, are women. This indicates that part-time work does not always provide a satisfactory solution: 44% of the underemployed women would like to work full-time, 56% would like to increase their part-time work. Among the underemployed men 63% would like to work full-time and 37% would like to increase their part-time work-percentage.
