In hardly any other place in the world the range of public transport services is as dense and well-developed as in Switzerland. In 2015 the Swiss railway network covered a length of 5 323 km and counted 1 838 stops (incl. cog railways). In the same year the public road transport network measured 21 529 km. The share of public transport in total motorised passenger transport on roads and railways increased from 17% to 20% between 2000 and 2018.
