In Switzerland, the number of thefts registered by the police has fallen by half between 2012 and 2018. The number of offences has fallen by over 100,000.

Execution of Penal Sentences and Justice

In 2017, 11 699 sentences and measures have been implemented. 69% of persons have been incarcerated, 29% provided a community service and 2% have served their sentence under electronic surveillance.

Criminal justice

In 2018 the number of juvenile convictions remained stable overall with 13 787 cases according to the juvenile conviction statistics. For adult convictions, numbers stagnated with just under 110 000 convictions.

Assistance to victims

In 2018, CHF 6.1 million was paid out to crime victims by the compensation authorities and the victim consultation centres provided consultations in 41,540 cases.
