Full indicator name: Infant mortality rate (cohort)

Definitions

The infant mortality rate is calculated by dividing the number of deaths of children under the age of 1 born during a civil year by the number of live births in the same civil year. Deaths may occur in the same or the following year. Results are expressed as rates of infant deaths per 1000 live born children.
