Salarium - Statistical salary calculator

What is Salarium?

The statistical salary calculator ‘Salarium’ is an interactive application which allows you to obtain for a specific job (economic branch, region etc) and for a selection of individual characteristics (age, level of education etc.) the following salary information:

  •  the gross monthly salary (middle or median value)
  •  the salary dispersion (interquartile range)

The values calculated by the Salarium are based on a provisional model designed by the FSO and uses the data gathered from the Swiss Earnings Structure Survey (ESS) 2016.

The results do not constitute a recommended salary. They show the salaries actually paid in 2016. They may be unconstitutional from a gender equality point of view (Art. 8 para 3 Cst.) and contrary to the prohibition of discrimination (Art. 3 EqA) and the right to national treatment according to the Switzerland-EU Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons.

How to use the Salarium

Step 1: fill out the five compulsory fields (*) of the profile, i.e. region, business sector, occupation, professional position and working hours.

Step 2: fill out one or more optional fields depending on how much detail you wish for the profile in which you are interested. Please note: fields left empty are automatically assigned the value most frequently observed in the Swiss Earnings Structure Survey (ESS) for the chosen business sector (e.g. the field "education" when left empty most often takes the value corresponding to "apprenticeship completed").

► Once the profile is confirmed, the Salarium will carry out the calculations and display the results.
