Persons aged 15 to 29 in the Swiss labour market in 2020 Sharp decline in under-30s in economically active population over past 30 years

08.02.2022 - In 2020, persons aged 15 to 29 accounted for 22.0% of the economically active population compared with 29.7% thirty years ago. Nearly a third of young people combining education and employment in 2020 had a fixed-term contract and almost one in seven worked on call. Among 15-29 year-olds, the unemployment rate based on ILO definition was 6.9%, i.e. almost half the EU average.  These are some of the findings from the publication “Persons aged 15 to 29 in the Swiss labour market in 2020” from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
