The tourism balance of payments is calculated on the basis of IMF recommendations.
- With regard to receipts, it measures the value of goods and services acquired by non-residents during their stays in Switzerland.
- With regard to expenditure, it measures the value of goods and services acquired by Swiss residents during their stays abroad.
In 2022, the tourism balance of payments underwent a slight revision with revised series up to 2017. It was carried out within the broader framework of the revision of macroeconomic statistics (National Accounts and Balance of Payments).
