The MONET indicator system

Is Switzerland on the road to sustainable development?

The MONET system is an effort to answer this question on the basis of indicators.

MONET is a joint activity of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), the Federal Office for Spatial Development (ARE) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).


All indicators

73 indicators describe the development of sustainability in Switzerland.

Those indicators are currently only available in French and German


Indicators of the global dimension of sustainable development

9 indicators describe the interdependency between Switzerland and other countries from a sustainable development point of view

17 key indicators measure progress on the road to sustainable development


Indicators of gender equality

5 indicators present gender equality: a cross-sectional topic of sustainable development.

The indicators are currently only available in French and German
