MONET 2030: Teaching staff at higher education institutions

SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Swiss target 4.3: Access to high-quality general and vocational education and training – including at tertiary level – offers economic and social opportunities irrespective of gender, origin, disability or social status.

Significance of the indicator
The indicator shows the percentage of women among professors at universities and institutes of technology (UNI) and lecturers with management responsibilities at universities of applied sciences (UAS) and universities of teacher education (UTE).
The equality of opportunity to start and successfully complete training and education at all education levels is a basic requirement for the equal personal development opportunities of women and men in politics, the economy and society. To ensure that women are able to fulfil their potential on an even footing with men in scholarship and research, this equality of opportunity must be further developed. An increase in the indicator is therefore pursued for the benefit of sustainable development.

International comparability
This indicator can be compared at international level.
