Significance of the indicator
The indicator shows Switzerland’s ranking among the least corrupt countries. From a sustainable development point of view, the ranking must improve.
Help for interpretation
This indicator is based on surveys on perceived corruption in the public sector conducted among specialists in the countries surveyed and by business people. It is produced and published by the NGO Transparency International. Countries are ranked by their Corruption Perceptions Index. A country’s ranking can change from one year to the next even if the index does not alter.

Methodology
The indicator shows Switzerland’s ranking among the least corrupt countries. Ranking is determined on the basis of the Corruption Perceptions Index in the public sector. This index is based on surveys conducted among business people, risk analysts and academics in these countries or abroad. Corruption in the public sector is defined as “the misuse of public power for private benefit”.
