The statistics on social assistance in the context of asylum seekers are compiled by the Federal Statistical Office on behalf of the State Secretary for Migrations (SEM). In the years from 2008 to 2015, data on recipients of asylum-related social assistance were collected in the eAsyl survey. This was a sample survey conducted with June as reference month. Since the survey conducted in 2016, data on recipients of asylum-related social assistance are collected in the SH-AsylStat. This survey uses the same method as those used in the social assistance recipients statistics.
The survey on which these statistics are based collects data on asylum seekers receiving social assistance from the Confederation. The groups of people included in these statistics are asylum seekers (N) and persons admitted temporarily (F) who have resided in Switzerland for up to 7 years.
The key indicators of the SH-AsylStat statistics are the social assistance rate, the structure, the social situation of this group of people as well as the length and dynamics of the benefits.
