Education and training are one of the most important aspects of the skills level of people living in Switzerland and are of the utmost importance in the process of integration. Education determines not only access to the labour market but also has a decisive impact on a person’s opportunities to participate in society. The structure of education should be considered when looking at the educational level and qualifications of the population with a migration background, regardless of whether these qualifications were obtained in Switzerland or abroad. Furthermore, the success of the migrant population’s integration can be examined within the educational system in Switzerland for people completing or having completed at least a part of their education in Switzerland.
