For more than 30 years, the Federal Statistical Office has published the hit parade of first names of newborns. These first names are transmitted to the FSO every year by the civil registry offices together with demographic data on live births. In 2020, the number of births in our country was 85 914.
First names by language region and their trend
There are some significant differences depending on the language region. For example, the top-ranking first names differ between the language regions.
Thanks to the link below, you can access two interactive graphics showing the first names of newborns. The first graphic allows the language region to be selected and shows the ranking of the top ten girls’ and boys’ first names in 2020. The second graphic shows the trend for the 100 most popular first names between 2000 and 2020 and allows a more targeted manual search.
